The Tradition:

The elf arrives at your home and your children officially adopted him by giving him a name. Each year he arrives around the holidays, usually at Thanksgiving. His sole responsibility is to watch the children's behavior and report it to Santa each night. Every night, after they have gone to bed, your elf flies up to the North Pole to report back to Santa and every morning he has flown back down to your home and landed on a new shelf.
